Russian operator Gars Telecom has refreshed its SmartMobile service based on FMC (Fixed-Mobile Convergence) technology, reports Cnews.ru. The service enables the connection of fixed and mobile telephone numbers into a single network. The first version of the service was launched with Megafon in 2003. The updated version introduces calls over short telephone numbers outside of the city of Moscow, and will also be accessible under coverage of the Beeline network.
