Institute of Economic Strategies of Russian Academy of Sciences has published “The 50 most strategic telecommunication companies” rating. While the previous year IES RAS Rating and certification center practically was estimating anti-crisis strategies of Russian telecommunication companies, analysis of their strategies as of autumn 2010, releases dynamics of market landscape, changing in front of the very eyes.

According to IES RAS analytics, technologies, constantly replacing each other, should be considered as one of the ICT market key features. Indeed, full circle of technological base update takes 3-4 years. That is why qualitative indicators of market activity — effectiveness of companies’ modernization processes and market trends following, are equally important as indicators of revenue and business profitability. From this point of view rating of strategy allows stakeholders to keep their fingers on the pulse and understand certain market companies’ prospects.

TOP10 the most strategic companies in 2010 are “Mobile TeleSystems” (71,1 AAA), “VimpelCom” (70,7, ААА), “MegaFon” (70,1 AАА), “Rostelecom” (69,4, ABА), “Gars Telecom” (69,1 АBA), “Comstar-UTS” (68,8, АBА), “Akado” (68,2, ABA), “Russian Satellite Communications Company” (67,3 BBB), “Tattelecom” (67,1 ABA) and “North-West Telecom” (66,5 ABA).

In comparison to the previous year results, leading positions are left by MTT and “Corbina Telecom”, they are replaced by “Akado”, “Tattelecom” and “North-West Telecom”. “Comstar UTS’” indicatiors has changed for the worse, however, in the next year rating this company’s data will be consolidated by its buyer — MTS.

At the same time, recent year key reshuffles on the telecommunication market have been reflected in the second and third tens of rating positions.

Gars Telecom anti-crisis strategy, oriented to market share increase, enabled not only to go through challenging times without losses, but also it has already “boosted” by the end on 2009, — Evgeniy Pickersgill, Commercial Director, Gars Telecom narrates.
