The Institute of Economic Strategies has released the rating of “The 50 most strategic telecommunication companies”. Rating has corrected the positions of the Russians assets in accordance with the measures that have been embarked by the operators to upgrade the development strategies in the new economic conditions.

The center of the ratings and certification in the Institute of Economic Strategies prepared the fresh rating of the Russian telecommunications companies on October, 2009.

The rating of the telecom-companies’ strategies reflects the decreasing of the telecom field growth. By the Rosstat data, the telecom market collapses, and its volume in Russia in July, 2009 decreased on 4% up to the 105,2 billion rubles against the July, 2008. By the Ministry for Economic Development forecast the volume of the telecom services in 2009 will be 1358 billion rubles, and the rates of growth are slowing down up to 102% in comparable prices to the level of the previous year. The major share in the market structure is owned by the mobile communications — 44,3%.

Thus, in TOP10 of the most strategic telecommunications companies in 2009 are MTS (70,6 AAA), Megafon (69,4 ABA), Comstar (69,0 ABA), Rostelecom (68,8 ABB), Gars Telecom (68,0 BBA), MTT (67,9 BBA), Russian Satellite Communications Company (67,3 BBB), Huawei Technologies (66,8 BBB) and Corbina Telecom (66,2 ВВA).

By the opinion of the Center of the ratings and certifications of The Institute of Economic Strategies, telecommunication sector is influenced by crisis less than the other fields. Telecommunications came to our lives forever. By the words of Ascar Tuganbaev, Vesti Channel Vise Director, “We are on the top and don’t feel the interest decrease. The users spend more time in internet and are interested in the actual information”.

Different opinion that we need telecommunications as air works only for the retail sector. — tells Evgeniy Pickersgill, Gars Telecom Commercial Director. — Really, social researches show that today a person refuses the mobile and internet services in the last moment. But if we need to talk about the corporate clients sector, the economic laws rule firstly here. That is why Gars Telecom Company was in the epicenter of the crisis in the last year autumn and felt the market collapse and the employment layoffs, which reached 80% in the financial sector.

Upon the words of Evgeniy Oleynik, Gars Telecom Development Director, company reacted the market correction in the beginning of the previous year, cordially changing the strategy: “We stopped to orient on the money earning and the profit increasing and aimed on the market share conquest. The logic is simple — the clients migrates (bringing the own operator); exclusive appearance of the operator on the object stopped to be as a rule; to serve any business center is easier now. Besides, in the beginning of the spring we launched the “Move for free” action, offering the companies which change the office to move the telecommunication infrastructure without charge. As a result, only for the 1H 2009 we added to our network more than 60 offices objects and connected more than 400 clients.
